Graduate Assistant - Campus Activities

McKendree University is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to serve as a part-time graduate assistant in the Campus Activities Office at its Lebanon, Illinois campus.  Tuition discount and minimum wage hourly rate are included. 

Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Activities, the Graduate Assistant contributes to the goals of the Campus Activities Office and Student Affairs Office by coordinating activities and functions to support students’ intellectual, social, cultural, and recreational and growth within our campus and throughout our community. 

The Graduate Assistant will aid the Director of Campus Activities in the strategic planning and implementation of programming and the operational, financial, and personnel functions of the Campus Activities Office, including, but not limited to:  New Student Orientation, Campus Recreation, and Registered Student Organizations.

Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and acceptance into a McKendree University master’s program at is required. 

Qualifications, Special Knowledge, and Skills

  • Knowledge and experience of event and/or sports programming and leadership development
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to function autonomously and as a member of a team
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from campus
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time on occasion
  • Strong organizational, presentation, oral and written communication skills necessary for working collaboratively and cooperatively with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
  • Knowledge of recreation facilities and personnel supervision
  • Solid computer skills are necessary.  This includes the ability to use Microsoft Office, social media, along with familiarity of Adobe Creative Suite or competency in desktop publishing and web page development/maintenance
  • Nights, weekends and some travel required
  • Graduate Assistant may not hold a full-time job. Other part-time employment must receive prior approval from the Director of Campus Activities.
  • Undergraduate experience in Student Affairs/Activities preferred
