By focusing on the physical, psychological and social needs of its patients, occupational therapy assists people in developing skills and attitudes to adapt to injury, disease, and disability so that their lives become more productive and meaningful.
Why a B.S. Degree in Occupational Therapy?

physiology, and psychology and how you can use those concepts to help others adapt
to an injury, disease, or disability? If you answered yes, then a bachelor’s degree
in Occupational Therapy could be the perfect fit for you!
About the Occupational Therapy Major
Our B.S. in Occupational Therapy is part of a five-year cooperative 3+2 program, in
which students spend their first three years at McKendree and final two years at Washington
University’s School of Medicine. Once you meet all requirements for the major, including
one year in the Occupational Therapy program at Washington University, you’ll earn
your bachelor’s degree from McKendree. By completing one more year of graduate work,
you’ll earn a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Washington University.
Occupational Therapy majors pursuing their master’s degree must complete at least
30 hours of volunteer time in an Occupational Therapy related setting.

Employment Opportunities
Occupational Therapists work with the elderly, babies, infants, children, adults with
disabilities, individuals with illnesses, or individuals dealing with an acute injury.
Employers can include school systems, long-term care facilities, hospitals, home health
care organizations, rehabilitation facilities, and industry and social service agencies.
