About Nancy
Nancy S. Ypma joined the McKendree faculty in the fall of 1988. As a professor of
music, her responsibilities include conducting the Concert Choir, teaching applied
organ lessons and teaching courses in music history, church music, musical theatre
and conducting. As Director of the Music Department, she has been instrumental in
overseeing the growth of the department, the addition of several new degrees, and
the recruitment of new faculty. As a concert organist, she continues to perform regularly
throughout the Midwest, give master classes, and serve as an adjudicator for competitions.
In addition to her responsibilities at McKendree, Ypma is also organist and music
director at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Belleville, Illinois.
