McKendree Homecoming Parade is Oct. 3

(LEBANON, Ill., September 25, 2015) - Join the crowd lining the streets along the McKendree University campus to watch its homecoming parade, “Cheers to 187 Years,” on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. Student organizations, the homecoming court, alumni awardees, marching bands, local groups and businesses will show their spirit on floats, cars, trucks, horseback and on foot.

“We want you to come out and join us! Last year we had over 40 student, departmental and business entries in the parade and we are looking to expand beyond that this year,” said Craig Robertson, director of campus activities. “We invite you to not only join our parade also our weekend festivities, including pre-game tailgating and the football game.” The “Battle of the Bearcats” football game kicks off at 1 p.m., with McKendree taking on Southwest Baptist University at Leemon Field.

The parade will line up at 10 a.m. on Alton Street and step off at 11 a.m. Due to the rerouting of Route 4, it will stay within the campus vicinity, proceeding from Alton St. to Summerfield St. to Stanton St. to College Rd. and back to Alton St.

Parade entry forms are due by Wednesday, Sept. 30 in the Campus Activities Board Office, located on campus in The Lair.
