McKendree University's all-you-can-eat dining option features a wide variety of fresh food designed to satisfy everyone's appetite. Selections include: fresh fruit, salads, freshly baked pizza and desserts, made-to-order deli choices, homemade soups, and delicious, hot, home-style entrees. All members of the McKendree community are welcome - cash, credit/debit, University meal swipes, and Flex and Munch Money are accepted.

1828 Cafe

McKendree University's al a carte dining option offers a variety of hot food items along with salads, snacks, fountain & bottled beverages, ice cream, smoothies, and Starbucks, with specials every day. All members of the McKendree community are welcome - cash, credit/debit, University meal swipes, and Flex and Bogey Bucks are accepted.

Meal Plan Options & Rates

 Fall 2024 to Spring 2025

19 Meals per week and $50 in Flex per semester - $3,290 per semester

15 Meals per week and $75 in Flex per semester - $3,015 per semester

10 Meals per week and $100 in Flex per semester - $2,635 per semester

25 Meals per semester - $235 per semester - Commuters and Apartment Residents Only

Considerations:

Meals for the 10 Plan may be used in Ames Dining Hall.

Meals for the 15 Plan or 19 Plan may be used in either Ames Dining Hall or 1828 Café during the Meal Exchange lunch or dinner.

Flex may be used at either Ames Dining Hall or 1828 Café at any time.  Flex dollars expire at the end of each semester.  

The dining week starts on Saturdays for Brunch, and ends on Friday at Dinner.  There are a total of 19 meals per week that are available.

 

Meal Plan Requirement

Students living in Baker, Barnett, Walton, The Suites, Residence Hall East, or Residence Hall West are required to have a 10, 15, or 19 meal plan. 
Students living in Hunter Street or McKendree West are permitted, but not required, to have a meal plan.

 

Additional Options

Commuter Students can opt-in to any of the aforementioned plans or purchase a Bogey Bucks Only plan. Bogey Bucks can be purchased at Ames Dining Hall, 1828 Café, the Dining Services website, or using Student Link.  Student Link is accessible through your MyMcK portal and is the preferred method.

Residential students can add additional Bogey Bucks to their account in a similar manner.

Bogey Bucks purchased in the Fall carry over to Spring and expire on graduation day each year.

 

Services

Virtual ID

All students are required to carry their McK ID on them at all times.  However, we understand that sometimes, you might forget.  Without your McK ID, how are you going to use your meal plan?  You can use a Virtual ID instead of needing to go back to your room to find your physical ID.  To access or download a copy of your virtual I.D.

1. Go to the McKendree website and login to your MyMcK from your phone.

2. Click on "View all applications"

3. Select Bogey Bucks (aka student link)

4. Click on the hamburger (3 lines top left corner)

5. Select  Student and Staff login

6. Click on the hamburger (3 lines top left corner)

7. Select Virtual Card Display

8. Copy and save a screenshot for quick future access.

You'll need your McK ID or access to your  virtual ID on your phone for access to your meal plan and entrance into Ames or purchases at 1828 Cafe.

 

Meal Plan Change Request

Interested in a different meal plan? Students are permitted to change their plan until the posted date for each semester. If you would like to make a change to your plan, please email us at [email protected] from your McK Email Address.

 

Bogey Bucks

Students who want to add more money to their McK ID can purchase Bogey Bucks can purchase Bogey Bucks at 1828 Cafe or Ames, the Dining Services website. or Student Link.  Student Link is accessible through your MyMcK portal and is the preferred method. 

When purchasing Bogey Bucks, students receive a 10% bonus on their purchase! Bogey Bucks also do not require students to pay tax on their purchases in Ames or 1828 Cafe. Anyone can purchase Bogey Bucks - whether you're on a meal plan or not. Students on a meal plan will have their Flex Dollars used first, then any Bogey Bucks they have purchased. Bogey Bucks can roll over from the fall semester to the spring semester, though not the next academic year.

 

1828 Meal Exchange

Meal exchange only applies to those on a 15 meal plan and 19 meal plan.  Meal exchange effectively extends:

Breakfast Meal Exchange - 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Lunch Meal Exchange- 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Dinner Meal Exchange - 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

If a student misses lunch or dinner on these days and is on the 15 meal plan or 19 meal plan, they can go to 1828 Cafe during the extended hours and use a "meal swipe" to order off the meal exchange menu.   

 

Lebanon Food Pantry

The Lebanon Food Pantry is located at the Chapel and can provide students with additional food and/or toiletries, free of charge. Students are required to bring their McKendree student ID and a piece of mail showing their on-campus address to be approved to use the pantry. The Pantry can be contacted at 618-537-6368.

The Lebanon Food Pantry is open:

Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Outside of normal hours, students can call Public Safety (618-537-6911) to gain access.

 

Food Allergies & Dietary Restrictions

Dining Services will meet one-on-one with any student who has individual dining needs to ensure that their dining experience is safe, delicious, and social. If you have a food allergy or specific dietary restriction, such as needing gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan options, please call their office or send them a message using their feedback form.
